Michelle Williams Is Engaged To Hamilton Director Thomas Kail

Michelle Williams is ending the decade in style – she is engaged to director Thomas Kail and the two are expecting their first child together.

The couple were seen strolling hand-in-hand in London where Williams is on location while shooting Venom sequel, Venom 2. Williams was later spotted buying baby clothes from a boutique in Kensington, according to People, who first reported the news.

Kail directed Williams in the drama Fosse/Verdon, a miniseries about the romantic relationship between a celebrated director and an iconic actress, for which Williams won the Emmy Award for lead actress for her role as Gwen Verdon.

He is close friends with Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed the Broadway productions of his of Miranda’s musicals In the Heights and Hamilton.

However, a source told People that the two were set up by Williams’ 14-year-old daughter, Matilda, from her first marriage to the late Heath Ledger. She was also briefly married to Mount Eerie frontman Phil Elverum in 2018 before splitting earlier this year.

Williams has previously spoken about finding love after Ledger’s death in 2008, telling Vanity Fair in 2018 that she “never gave up on love”.

“I always say to Matilda,’Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes,” she told the magazine.

She added that while she preferred to keep her personal life private, she wanted to help others on the same journey.

“Don’t settle. Don’t settle for something that feels like a prison or is hard, or hurts you. If it doesn’t feel like love, it’s not love.”
