Be Whisked Away To A Magical, Cinematic World With ‘On The Wings Of Hermès’
An immersive seven-part performance that melds dance, object theatre, music and cinema.
Following successful iterations in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Shanghai, Hermès’s acclaimed project, titled On the Wings of Hermès, has finally landed in Singapore.
Conceptualised and brought to life by Belgian director Jaco Van Dormael and choreographer Michèle Anne De Mey, together with the Astragales dance company, On the Wings of Hermès is a poetic and cinematic experience like no other. In the darkness of a vast space that resembles a film studio, the immersive show follows the fable of Pegasus, the mythical winged horse, and his seven foals, as they embark on a quest to find lightness and grow wings.

The whimsical story unfolds through colourful landscapes and utopian worlds populated by poetic figurines and Hermès objects that come alive in a sensory, seven-part performance blending dance, object theatre, music and cinema. Captured in real time by Van Dormael, the scenes—including a humorous opera sung by a cast of Hermès “Kelly” bags; a mini circus; a lyrical flight of interlacing gloves; and a dance sequence depicting two entwined lovers carried away by the wind into the sky—are projected onto a giant screen, recreating the visionary masterpiece that embodies the playful, lighthearted spirit of the French maison.

“This work metaphorically illustrates the lightness that is omni present at Hermès: in the delicate hands of our craftspeople sewing with two needles at once, in the elegance of materials and in the subtle notes of a perfume. It is an experience which sparks the imagination, designed by the artisans of dreams,” says Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Artistic Director of Hermès.
