Long Live The Heiress

Before Kim Kardashian, there was Paris Hilton. The blonde, tawny heiress of the Hilton Hotel empire conquered social media back in the mid-2000s, filled news pages with the juiciest gossip, and decked herself top-to-toe in nothing but designer togs. Some even say that she was the originator of the term "celebutante".

Fast forward a decade later, and the tabloid queen has cleaned up her act (sort of), and made an empire with her super successful perfume and fashion line simply called "Paris Hilton". Sometimes she DJs in Ibiza too, and from the looks of it, she's got fans.

Looking back at her antics back in the day sure brought the tickles, so in honour of her birthday today, we'd like to share some of the forgotten moments that Paris the Heiress has entertained us with while we were growing up. Happy Birthday Paris!

1) Paris and Kim's secret "friendship"

Kim K may be the queen of social media right now, but did you know that the she once lived in Hilton's shadow and played her personal stylist?

2) The Simple Life

Reality TV has been all the rage for quite a while. But dare we say, The Simple Life starring Hilton and her then-BFF Nicole Richie was one of the pioneers in that category. The show documented the lives of these rich girls who had to live their lives as regular folks. The result left us in stitches in the best way possible.

3) The "Sanasa Song"

We love adorable BFF moments. The Sanasa Song by Paris and Nicole is one of them. Though we will probably never understand its origins, it's definitely a tune that haunts.

4) She had a book

And it was called "Confessions of An Heiress". To some, it was a light-hearted read. To others, it was something that only her fans could appreciate. Whatever it is, the pink and sparkly cover featuring none other than Paris herself, is really pretty.

5) Her little stint in horror film "House of Wax" (Warning: Scene might be too graphic)

Her first few stints in cinema, most notably as Paige Edwards in House of Wax, wasn't exactly Golden Globes-worthy, but at least her appearance left a lasting impact.

6) Her first music video

Clearly Paris was a force to be reckoned with. She was a regular in the party circuit, appeared on TV, and dabbled with movies. She then surprised us when she released her first song called "Stars Are Blind", which received mostly positive reviews.
