1. Baek Ji Yeon

It’s all green flags for the underrated queen of season 4, Bae Ji Yeon. In a season where the cast is primarily made up of influencers and entertainers, many fans on social media have noted that Ji Yeon brings a refreshing, unique take to the cast as someone who works behind the scenes. While she does modelling gigs and has a social media presence, Ji Yeon’s main hustle is being a space director. She arranges furniture for various brand events “to match their image and values”.

Ji Yeon emerged as a fan favourite throughout the season, winning over hearts by remaining confident and self-assured despite having a rough start when she spent the night in Inferno alone. Many fans claimed she was overlooked due to her tanner complexion and Korea’s strict beauty standards. As the season progressed, the star caught the eye of contestant Kim Tae Hwan, with the pair eventually leaving Inferno together. Additionally, panelist Dex was seemingly smitten with Ji Yeon after showing subtle support to her, leaving fans excited for a possible future connection.

2. Jung You Jin

Jung You Jin has been one of the most talked-about contestants this season. She was the first person to be chosen to go to Paradise by Yuk Jun Seo, the winner of the season’s first game for male contestants. The dancer is often seen with a smile on her face, and is best known for her sweet and bubbly personality. During the campfire episode, she found herself under criticism from show panelists and contestants for appearing “drunk” and playing on a swing by herself. Contestants were quick to judge, questioning her actions—all but Bae Yi Yeon, who said, “She’s having a blast”. They say strange, we say, girls just wanna have fun!

You Jin found herself in a mix of ‘situationships’, a term used on the show to describe complex and undefined relationships, with Jun Seo, Kook Dong Ho and Jang Theo. Notably, while she may come out of Inferno as a single lady, You Jin seems to have made meaningful female friendships and appeared to enjoy her time on the show regardless of romantic relationships. She is indeed a green flag and a certified girl’s girl.

3. Kim Hye Jin

Kim Hye Jin is an underrated and unproblematic queen. The former Miss Korea might not have had as much screen time as the others but she finally had her time in the spotlight in the later episodes. She was one of the first to notice an inconsistent pattern in contestant Kim Jeong Su’s behaviour after finding herself in a love triangle between her, Jeong Su and new contestant Park Hae Lin. She received praise on social media for her confidence in seeking clarity and expressing her unwillingness to nurture a seemingly unclear relationship and her intolerance of Jeong Su’s mixed signals. In the finale, Hye Jin and late entrant Ahn Joon Hoon leave the show together. A girl who knows her worth and doesn’t settle for anything less? Total green flag.

4. Kim A-rin

Model Kim A-rin was one of the most unproblematic contestants on the show. The star and fellow contestant Dong Ho initially got off to a rocky start after A-rin openly confessed to liking Dong Ho, while he did not appear to reciprocate. Subsequently, the two had a conversation in which Dong Ho expressed his attraction to A-rin but felt “it was a little awkward saying it around others”.

The couple had fans gushing over their effortless chemistry after seeing them interact during their pool date in Paradise. Many fans on social media have compared them to an old married couple. A-rin and Dong Ho ended up leaving the show together. A-rin, who was consistently honest and forthcoming with her relationships throughout the show, proudly earns a green flag!

5. Kim Min Seol

Model and aspiring sports reporter Kim Min Seol grew to be one of the fan favourites as the show progressed. At first, viewers did not perceive her in the best light, after she seemed to be judging fellow contestant You Jin for having fun on the swings alone. However, she eventually won over fans with her sense of humour, confidence, and her unwavering loyalty to Jun Seo.

Despite the show having multiple twists, tumultuous love triangles and emotional rollercoasters, Min Seol is the contestant who stayed loyal to a single person throughout the season. Many fans, including us, found ourselves rooting for her after Jun Seo surprised everyone by picking Si An over Min Seol for a night in Paradise. Despite our first impression of her, her subtle humour, straightforward attitude and loyalty earn her a green flag.

6. Kook Dong Ho

Thirty-year-old Dong Ho, according to fans on social media, stood out thanks to his job as a certified public accountant (CPA), with many stating that it was a refreshing change to see someone with a more realistic career, given that most of the contestants are entertainers of sorts. In earlier episodes, Dong Ho had caught some heat for seemingly rejecting A-rin’s confession during a drinking game in front of the other contestants, causing A-rin to appear visibly disappointed and embarrassed.

After the pair discussed their feelings privately, the tides turned, and fans began to root for him. They later had a swoon-worthy night in Paradise. The relationship began to waver after new contestant Hae Lin expressed interest, which sparked confusion in A-rin despite Dong Ho’s loyalty to her. Considering his slight slip-up the night of the drinking game and his desire to stay loyal to A-rin, Dong Ho is somewhat of a beige flag.

7. Lee Si An

Whether you like her or not, Lee Si An, without a doubt, is the main character of Single’s Inferno season four. Si An’s journey was like watching a K-drama unfold before us, with her experience packed full of intense love triangles and heated conflict. From the get-go, it was evident that Si An was something special, with her looks, personality and confident demeanour drawing many of the male contestants into a trance, namely Jang Theo, Yuk Jun Seo and Kim Jeong Su.

Throughout the first few episodes, Si An and Jang Theo were fan favourites—their interactions seemed natural, genuine and wholesome, with both parties appearing easygoing and comfortable with one another. It was not until she decided to couple up with Jun Seo that things started to turn slightly sour for her in the viewers’ eyes. Additionally, many fans took to social media to express their disdain regarding the lack of screen time given to other contestants, with some pointing out that the seasonal pattern with the love triangle trope in the finale was getting old.

Contrary to public opinion, the finale of Single’s Inferno season four saw Si An and Jun Seo leaving the show together. This unexpected outcome added a dramatic twist to the narrative. It’s important to note that Si An consistently maintained an authentic approach and was transparent about her intentions. Despite making some questionable decisions, her sincerity shined through, earning her a green flag in our books.

8. Ahn Joon Hoon

Single’s Inferno fans were first introduced to Ahn Joon Hoon in episode five, alongside Park Hae Lin, as ‘game changers’ to shake things up in Inferno. He found his match with Hye Jin after interacting in a speed dating game, describing the date as “comfortable and engaging”. He later got to know Hye Jin better, and the two stayed loyal to each other since, and ended up leaving the show hand in hand. From what we know, no red flags detected; so Joon Hoon gets a green flag from us!

9. Park Hae Lin

Twenty four-year-old Park Hae Lin was a late addition to the cast of Single’s Inferno 4. Upon entering Inferno, male contestants were charmed by her winning smile, outgoing personality and confidence. However, Hae Lin caught some criticism and confusion from viewers after greeting her fellow female contestants “unnie”, which could have been perceived as a rude entrance.

True to her title as a “game changer”, she found herself in a love triangle shortly after. Despite prior romantic connections with Si An and Hye Jin, Jeong Su claimed that Hae Lin was his ideal type. Hae Lin initially expressed interest in Jeong Su later shifted her interest to Dong Ho, and the two wound up going to Paradise. Despite them making connections in paradise, Dong Ho expressed that he had stronger feelings for A-rin, which led him to choose her over Hae Lin. Overall, while her actions where somewhat puzzling, she did not display overtly negative traits, so we are giving her a beige flag.

10. Kim Tae Hwan

One way to describe Kim Tae Hwan’s experience in Single’s Inferno is character development (kind of...). It started with his introduction in the first episode, when he said, “Sometimes when I look into the mirror, I feel I could get sucked into my own eyes”. Many viewers labelled him arrogant and self-absorbed, until fan favourite Ji Yeon brought him out of his shell and revealed his softer side.

Following their wholesome interactions in Inferno, the pair progressed to Paradise, emerging as one of the most popular couples, and spent two consecutive nights in Paradise. Following the second date, it was shown that the relationship was not what it appeared, as Ji Yeon later revealed that Tae Hwan mainly talked about himself. During the skating date,, for example, “he was having all the fun by himself without noticing me at all”. Later, the pair chatted honestly, both expressing that they were ready to compromise on their different ideologies. Given that some actions of Tae Hwan raised concerns about his sincerity towards the relationship, we give him a beige flag.

11. Jang Tae Oh

Jang Tae Oh, more popularly known as Jang Theo, has green flag written all over him. He was this season’s golden retriever—he was endearing, loyal and well-received bySingle’s Inferno fans worldwide. With his witty sense of humour and extroverted personality, the charismatic contestant resonated with viewers, particularly with his heartfelt gesture of thoughtfully crafting a flower ring for romantic interest Si An while she was away in Paradise with another man.

His loyalty to Si An, his wholesome friendship and his playful banter with You Jin earned him praise and support from fans who perceived him to be genuine, supportive and easy-going. He emerged as a clear fan favourite, having gained over a million followers since the show premiered.

Or so we thought—after the show aired, he got himself into hot water after seemingly throwing shade at Si An by liking a comment labelling her as a “pick-me girl”. What appeared to be a casual interaction with fans garnered criticism online, and a red flag from us.

12. Kim Jeong Su

Cafe owner and F&B businessman Jeong Su was one of the first male contestants viewers were introduced to, capturing hearts with his tall frame and puppy-like appearance. However, his behaviour began to raise concerns among fans. While some saw his early affection as a red flag, others found it endearing. It was noted that with his romantic connections concerning Si An, Hye Jin and Hae Lin, Jeong Su came across as overly affectionate and invested very early on, leading him to be labelled a ‘love bomber’ by some fans on social media. While many found it charming, most perceived it as a tactic to win someone over quickly, just to pull back to avoid committing—classic red flag move.

13. Yuk Jun Seo

Yuk Jun Seo has been labelled a red flag by most fans on social media, practically from the start—mainly relating to his lack of communication and his perceived emotional immaturity towards his romantic relationships. Throughout the show, Jun Seo displayed indecisiveness about who he was interested in, with many viewers pointing out that he strung women along without making his intentions clear, namely You Jin and Min Seol.

It is also worth noting that with many of his connections, Jun Seo appeared passive and reactive rather than taking the lead in pursuing a relationship, leading to debate about his authenticity. During a double date with Si An, Jeong Su and You Jin, Si An was taken aback by Jun Seo’s way of speaking to her, asking him, “Can’t you be more gentle with me? Can’t you be sweeter to me?” From what we’ve seen, Jun Seo is indeed a red flag.
