Get your popcorn ready because your favourite streaming platforms have just released a slew of new shows and films for you to watch over the weekend. From Disney+ to Netflix, ahead, we’ve rounded up some of the most exciting titles that will be rolling out this May.

An actor who has a nervous breakdown derails a celebrity's tour in this series starring Lily-Rose Depp. In an effort to regain her "pop star" status, she meets Tedros (played by The Weeknd), a nightclub owner with an interesting background. 'The Idol' will premiere on HBO Max on 4 June

If you love Physical: 100, or any survival show for that matter, then you might dig this new Netflix series that’s coming soon. Titled, Siren: Survive The Island, the new show is an exciting and action-packed show that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seats. 24 female professionals from different backgrounds – that include police officers, firefighters, bodyguards, soldiers, athletes and stuntwomen – compete for survival on a remote island. Will they be able to work together to navigate the challenges of the wilderness? And can they deal with the physical and emotional toll of the competition?

This new series is set in a dystopian 2071 devastated by air pollution, only about 1 percent of the population has survived and a strict social class now exists. People rarely leave their homes and when they do, they have to wear gas masks to protect themselves from air pollution. Those alive rely heavily on elite delivery drivers, otherwise known as Black Knights for survival. One day, a legendary knight called ‘5-8’, played by Kim Woo-bin, meets a boy named Sa-Wol, who wishes to become a Knight just like him, and decides to train him so that he can achieve his dream in the dark and dangerous world that they all live in.

Black Knight will premiere on Netflix on 12 May

Can’t get enough of Bridgerton? This new Netflix series will focus on the life of Queen Charlotte, a character in the original series who is played by Golda Rosheuvel. The prequel will explore Queen Charlotte’s backstory and origins, and also delve into her personal life and her rise to power, as well as her relationships with other members of the royal court, including her marriage to King George of England.

‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ fans, this one’s for you. The new spinoff, titled ‘XO, Kitty’ zooms in on Katherine Song Covey, aka Kitty, and her love story. Known as a teen matchmaker, Kitty, thinks she knows everything there is to know about love. However, when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she will soon realise that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.

However, when he meets a new foreign student on the first day of school, more worlds collide as Jin is unwittingly entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods.

A Viu original series, ‘My Perfect Stranger’ My Perfect Stranger is about a reporter and writer, who inexplicably travel back in time to the year 1987 and find themselves trapped there. Yoon Hae-joon tries to find the truth behind a series of murders in hopes of saving the victims, while Baek Yoon-young tries to prevent her parents from marrying, wanting to spare herself from being born, and the burden of her life in the future.

While their goals seem completely unrelated, they soon find out that they are connected.

My Perfect Stranger is now on Viu

Starring EXO’s Sehun, this new Korean drama on Viu tells a story of young love and friendship.

In high school, Go-yoo (played by Oh Se-hun) and Joon-hee (played by Cho Jun-young) are best friends with different tastes and interests. But when Joon-hee falls sick, Go-yoo donates his kidney to him.

However, after the transplant, Joon-hee starts to act like Go-yoo due to cellular memory, where memories, habits, interests, and tastes are stored in not just the brain, but the body too. They become rivals in love as they both vie for the affection of So-yeon, the new and mysterious girl in Hara High School.

Don’t be taken aback by the name of this show. For the curious, this new show revolves around important social issues like school bullying and social class.

Kim Hye-in (Lee Eun-saem), who grew up in poverty, is offered a chance to study at the prestigious Cheongdam International High School in exchange for her silence on a murder she witnessed. She meets Baek Je-na (Yeri), a third-generation chaebol and queen bee who looks down on anyone with a lower status than her. Hye-in is no pushover, and her presence disrupts the status quo at the school as they become rivals.

This riveting drama on HBO GO, starring Elizabeth Olsen, tells the true story of Candy and Pat Montgomery and Betty and Allan Gore – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.
