Sotheby's—one of the world largest and most reputable brokers of fine and decorative art, jewellery and collectibles—has teamed up with Google to host an online charity auction of 24 virtual experiences to benefit the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a global humanitarian aid, relief and development non-governmental organisation in their effort to combat the spread of COVID-19 in vulnerable communities.

The virtual experiences with industry leaders in culture, business, politics and science can be enjoyed via Google Meet video calls, so you can continue to practice social distancing. The winning bidders will enjoy unique experiences such as a coffee with Hillary Clinton, an online makeup tutorial with Charlotte Tilbury, a private recording with Sting, a pub quiz with Mumford & Sons, and even a discourse on Shakespeare with Sir Patrick Stewart.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the IRC; Sotheby's will also donate 100 percent of the Buyer's Premium to the non-profit humanitarian aid organisation. To further sweeten the deal, the winning bidders will be able to choose to share their experience with frontline workers and anyone else who may have been directly impacted by the pandemic.

In a press release, David Miliband, President and CEO of the IRC said: “As a global community we are only as strong as the weakest link in the chain and millions of refugees and displaced people are now facing a double emergency with the virus reaching their communities. With those most vulnerable in need of all the help that we can give, we would like to thank Sotheby’s, Google and all the luminaries who have agreed to participate and donate their time for this auction in support of IRC’s front-line efforts to help stop the spread of Covid-19 in vulnerable communities across the US and Europe.”

The auctions ends on 8 May 2020. For more information and the full list of auction lots, visit www.sothebys.com and www.rescue.org.
