2. Wakey Wakey
You know the coffee at Wakey Wakey is going to be good because it's from the Stranger's Reunion team helmed by one of the owners, Ryan Kieran Tan, a champion barista. Nestled in the heart of Geylang is Hideout Coffee Bar, a cosy cafe hidden in a back alley. As the name suggests, the crowd ranges from cafe-hoppers to those who just want a quick little hideaway from the bustle of Paya Lebar. 4. PPP Coffee
The sister cafe of the well-known Chye Seng Huat Hardware, PPP Coffee (previously known as Papa Palheta) has garnered quite a huge following of fans. Its latest outlet has opened in New Bahru and is the establishment’s first pet-friendly cafe, even having a special menu for pets.

5. The Coffee Academics

The newest addition to the list is Big Short Coffee, which opened its doors in Joo Chiat in August 2024. The baristas pull brew-and-pour techniques from cocktail bars, and many drinks have been crafted through rounds of trial and error.

7. Asylum Coffeehouse
Known for its unique house blends such as the Keluak (inspired by the Peranakan dish ayam buah keluak) and Castillo (caramelised apple and lychee), Asylum Coffeehouse welcomes patrons to its 25-seater space in Jalan Besar. 9. Kōhī Roastery & Coffee Bar
What was once Joo Chiat’s window-in-the-wall coffee joint, has now acquired two new outlets in Shenton Way and Katong. Kōhī Roastery & Coffee Bar, originally from Thailand, adopts a pay-as-you-wish concept, which encourages customers to patronise fairly. Though small in size, the joint’s menu offers more than just coffee—hojicha, matcha and chocolate are available as well.

10. Nylon Coffee Roasters
Located in the Everton Park neighbourhood, this cafe is regarded as one of the pioneers of Singapore’s specialty coffee scene. Nylon Coffee Roasters serves up simple coffee brews with sustainable beans, made from artisanal blends sourced from around the world.

11. Maxi Coffee Bar
Nestled around the corner of Ann Siang Hill is Maxi Coffee Bar. You won’t miss it due to the bright blue storefront that greets you. Cafe Manna and AM Coffee Co. have teamed up to build a coffee space within Mount Sophia. You can find the cafe in the chapel-esque The Secret Haven, which has its own following as a choice spot for young couples to get married at. 16. Good Egg by Bearded Bella
If you work in the CBD, you’d be pleased to know Good Egg by Bearded Bella opened in March 2024. 17. Kurasu
Founded in 2016, Kurasu started its life as a Japanese homeware store in Australia before the Japanese owner, Yozo Otsuki, started combining his passion for coffee with his retail space. The beans are roasted in Kyoto, Japan before they are shipped here weekly. The minimalist space is a chill spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and shop for related paraphernalia. Another humble hawker entry on the list is Generation Coffee Roasters, which has outlets in Bedok, Hong Lim, Tekka Market and Tanjong Pagar. 20. Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee
Tiong Hoe started life as a coffee wholesaler before upgrading to be Q-grade certified (i.e. the industry's most recognised certification system) and opening its cafe doors. Tiong Hoe now sells over 20 different origins of specialty coffee from Africa, Asia and South and Central America. So if you can expect anyone to know their coffee, it will be Tiong Hoe.
