The word “passion” might be tossed around a lot these days, but for Michelle Sielman, it’s no mere buzzword. The beauty blogger, who shuttles between Singapore and Sri Lanka, started her Instagram account four years ago as a way to showcase her growing collection of makeup and skincare items.

“I’m a major shopaholic when it comes to beauty products. It’s something I enjoy, so why not spend time on it and have something to show for it, too?”

The petite 33-year-old admits it took some time to grow her numbers, but thanks to her genuine enthusiasm for the topic, her 49.8k followers now see her as a trusted beauty authority through her informative posts.

When it comes to maintaining her voice though, Sielman sticks by her own rules. “I buy a lot of the things I feature because if you’re getting things from brands, everyone would be highlighting the same products,” she says. “The idea is so I can feature the things I love and not be obligated to write anything I don’t want to write about. I do this for pleasure because it’s my passion. It’s not a job.”
