1. Loyalty To A-List Stars

In a world of celebrity spats and showdowns among stars (here’s looking at usual suspects Nicki Minaj and Blac Chyna), Gomez takes on a positive approach when it comes to public relationships.

Instead of fuelling wars with celebrities, Gomez instead shines the spotlight on healthy bonds that she shares with friends. She has publicly shown love and support to her good friend, fellow pop star Taylor Swift (who we know have gone through a major media teardown with Kim K and Kanye). Hollywood's long time A-list favourite, Jennifer Aniston, has also gone to give Gomez lots of love, reportedly dishing out advice on how to handle the pressures of being in the limelight.

2. Even when they’re not her biggest fan

Young and opinionated singer, Lorde, who is a proud feminist didn’t keep mum when Selena’s song Come And Get It didn’t sit well with her due to the lyrics’ supposed anti-feminist message.

While other girls would have shot her down flat, Selena was quoted as saying "I recently did an interview and they asked me who I thought was up-and-coming and making a difference. I said, 'She doesn't like me, but Lorde.'"

"I'm going to support her whether she likes me or not, because I think she's doing great things. Someday, I will see her and we'll be cool."

Class act, right there.

3. She’s the queen of Instagram

As if ruling the hearts of fans worldwide isn’t enough, Gomez went on to rule the realm of social media as well. While the most followed Instagram account is, well, Instagram itself with a current reach of 225 million, Gomez’s following of 123 million (and counting) isn’t too far behind – with pop diva Ariana Grande and football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo trailing behind with 111 million and 106 million followers respectively.

4. Even when she took an Instagram hiatus

In August 2016, Gomez disappeared from Instagram, taking a three month break from the social media app. While this means possibly losing lucrative deals with major brands, focusing on recalibrating her health with rehab was of utmost importance to her. Despite that, Gomez’s place as most followed person on Instagram remained.

5. She leads a fabulous life

When she’s rubbing shoulders with the likes of A-list celebs like Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid among today’s crop it It Girls, as well as fashion royalties like Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld — all while attending some of the most exclusive events — she always seems open to sharing the highs of her life with Selenators and the public without seeming like she's boasting.

6. But she’s also open about her struggles

Life seems fine and dandy for the Gomez. But the starlet also suffers from autoimmune disease lupus, and battling lupus-related lupus, anxiety and depression at the same time. Which was why she took the social media hiatus in point 4) and famously cancelled her European and South American Revival Tour schedules to focus on recovery.

7. She shows major love to Selenators

Whom she’s gotten so much love and support in return to get through her fight with lupus, anxiety and depression.

8. And also to those in need

Besides giving lots of to her fans, Selena is also big on giving back to society. She has also been appointed a UNICEF ambassador at a tender age of 17, having been the spokesperson twice for the organization’s Trick-Or-Treat campaign that focuses on raising funds to help children around the world.

She has also taken to the school benches on World Kindness Day early this year, an effort with American luxury brand Coach 1941 and the brand’s charity partner Step Up to help girls build on their self-esteem.

9. Stepping up her fashion game

Rubbing shoulders with Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld was not for nothing. The budding fashionista has inspired designers Nicolas Ghesquière and Stuart Vevers, who have both put the cherubic social media superstar and celebrity on Louis Vuitton’s Series 5 and Coach’s upcoming fall/winter 2017 campaigns respectively. She is also said to be collaborating with Coach to design a piece for the collection.
