There's no doubt that Zendaya is a true style icon, but she won't be attending fashion's biggest event this year.

The actress confirmed during yesterday's Euphoria For Your Consideration Emmys event at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures that she won't be making an appearance at the 2022 Met Gala, citing scheduling issues. "[Sorry] to disappoint my fans here but I will be working," Zendaya told Extra. "Your girl's gotta work and make some movies." She added cheekily that she "[wishes] everyone the best" and that she'll "be back eventually."

The actress also said that she would be "playing tennis," hinting that she will be busy in Boston filming the upcoming romance drama helmed by Call Me by Your Name's Luca Guadagnino, Challengers. The film follows a love triangle between three tennis players on and off the court; Zendaya stars as Tashi, a tennis coach who trains her husband, Art (Mike Faist), who's competing to become Grand Slam champion. Art ends up facing his former best friend and Tashi's ex-boyfriend across the net, Patrick (Josh O'Connor)—and the unexpected reunion results in a complicated entanglement that could have "queer undertones," per i-D.

The actress has yet to speak on her role in the upcoming film, but she "instantly was intrigued" after meeting with Guadagnino about playing Tashi, Deadline reported in February.

Though she and longtime stylist Law Roach won't be giving what would surely have been a game-changing Met Gala ensemble this year, the pair still gave a sleek offering at yesterday's event. On the carpet, Zendaya wore an ash gray lapel-less suit from Fear of God's fall 2021 collection, paired with Louboutin pumps and Bulgari diamonds.
