Year Of The Rabbit: How To Maximise Your Home’s Feng Shui

A feng shui master shares a guide to maximising the energy of your home for a good and prosperous year ahead

How To Maximise Your Home’s Feng Shui Energy In The Year Of The Rabbit

The Year of the Rabbit is just round the corner, which means it’s high time to spring clean and update your living spaces to maximise good energy for the new year. Take tips from feng shui master Adelina Pang, who runs her namesake consultancy in Singapore, to identify the most prosperous areas in your home.

“Feng shui is a study of invisible energies around us,” says Adelina. “[Specifically], the feng shui study we use is called ‘Xuan Kong Fei Xing’, or ‘Flying Stars Feng Shui’. To harness the positive energies of the Flying Stars, one must understand that each year these stars shift location every 12 months and affect nine major grids in your home.”

Certain energy types reside in each corner of your home, the feng shui master notes. “For instance, one location may be very auspicious to spend a lot of your time in as it is the annual residing place of an especially beneficial star, while you might need to avoid another spot in your home as it is the current home of a rather ominous star.”

Here, she shares a few pearls of feng shui wisdom on the different stars that reside in each corner for the Year of the Rabbit.

This year, the 9 Purple Star is located in the North. A star that brings positive energy and happiness, joy and good communication, this can help strengthen your relationships with family members and friends and bring you closer to your loved ones. Aspiring entrepreneurs and couples who want to strengthen their relationship should spend more time in this area. To enhance the positive energy, follow the tips below: – Enhance the brilliant energies of the further with metal-based décor items, such as bells, music box or windchimes. – Decorate the North area with pictures of successful celebrities or figures whom you look up to.

The Northeast is visited by the 7 Red Star, a negative star that might affect your income and health. It may also cause you to be more hot-tempered. Try countering the star’s negative energy by following the tips below: – Keep this area neat, tidy and clutter-free. – Do not store or display any sharp items such as swords and knives in the northeast this year. – If your bedroom is in the Northeast and relocating is not feasible, soften the energies by decorating the space with tasteful potted plants. – Place candles and lighting features. – Place a red- or green-coloured carpet or floor mat in this location.

The 2 Black Star resides in the East this year. Although its energies are suppressed this year, this is a negative star that brings misfortune and thus may still cause health issues. You may also experience more conflicts with your partner. If your bedroom or study room is located in the east of your home, try to relocate them elsewhere and keep the east area as quiet as possible. To suppress the star’s negative energy, try the following: – The best strategy to control the 2 Black is to avoid using the East this year, if possible. – A saltwater cure is perfect for the East. Put a glass or porcelain container filled with a salt solution (one-thirds sea salt or rock salt mixed with two-thirds water) and six coins within. This is called a salt water cure. – Keep this location in your home or office quiet, clean and unused. – Avoid renovation or construction works of any kind. If you need to carry out such activities, select an auspicious date and time, and initiate the first knock using a hammer in a safe area at South. – Place metal ornaments (e.g. pewters, weights, metal sculptures) in the area to counter the negative energies.

In the Southeast this year is the 3 Jade Star, which carries disagreeable energies that may lead to more conflicts between couples, family, friends and colleagues. You may also run into legal disputes, health issues or theft. To counter the negative energy, try to: – Avoid using this area as much as possible – Place a warm light, such as a candle, and a red-coloured carpet or floor mat in this area – Remove plants in this area

In the South this year is the Prosperity Star 8, which is also the Wealth Palace of 2023. This star brings money and success, together with a lot of power. Apart from spending plenty of work and play time in the South, you can also move your home office here if possible to enjoy the best results. For businesses, try to arrange your meetings to take place in the south area too, if there are available meeting rooms. To enhance the positive energy, follow the tips below: – Keep this space well ventilated to ensure the energies may move in a constant, breezy flow. – Enhance the area further with warm colours of yellows, oranges and reds for the space. – Place a warm light, candle, red-coloured carpet or floor mat – Relocate your sound system, radio, TV and computer in the west to further strengthen the luck of the star. – Be discerning and do not over-clutter. Make use of décor items that are meaningful to you. – If your front door, bedroom or kitchen is in the south, place a warm light, candle, red-coloured carpet or floor mat in this area.

In this Water Rabbit year, the Southwest is blessed by the arrival of the White Star, which is considered a “superstar” in the Xuan Kong Flying Stars System. It is very auspicious and carries great prospects for romance and building deep connections with people. The 1 White can enhance reputations, so those who desire to become well-connected should spend more time in the southwest. If you’re single, spending more time in the southwest of your home could potentially increase your love luck.

Also known as Wu Qu, this star brings great luck in the form of power, success and promotions. However, the 6 White star aligns in the west this year. This creates the 6-7 swordfighting sha (六七交劍煞) which translates to conflict, accidents and money loss. The San Sha (Three Killings) Star also resides in this area this year. This is a negative star and you can counter its effects by avoiding renovations or construction works in the West. It is also important to keep the space as quiet as possible. Another negative star, the Sui Po Year Breaker also resides in the West this year. To avoid misfortune, stay away from the West area. If that is not possible, you can counter the star’s negative energy by following the tips below: – A saltwater cure is perfect for the West. Put a glass or porcelain container filled with a salt solution (one-thirds sea salt or rock salt mixed with two-thirds water) and six coins within. This is called a salt water cure. – Do not place décor made of earthenware, crystals or Metallic based ornaments – Use candles or a warm lamp in this location to mitigate the 6-7 combination. – If you work from home and work in this area, make sure to not sit with your back to the West, where the San Sha is coming from.

The 5 Yellow Star resides in the Northwest this year. This is the most inauspicious star within the Flying Stars system. It may cause mishaps, injuries, finance issues and miscommunications. The best thing you can do is avoid any renovation works in this area. If you need to carry out such activities, select an auspicious date and time, and initiate the first knock using a hammer in a safe area in the south. Do keep the area quiet and unused. If your bedroom or office is located in this space, it would be best to relocate them. If relocating is not possible, you can try to suppress the negative energy by following the tips below: – Use golden coins tied with red threads to negate the negative energies. – If you have a bedroom or home office and it is impossible to relocate, place a blue, black or grey floor mat or carpet in the centre of the home. Tuck 6 coins underneath this mat. – Make use of metallic based cures such as figurines, bells, wind chimes and sculptures to suppress the flow of the 5 Yellow. – Use a saltwater cure. Place a glass or porcelain vessel, add six coins and some salt solution (one-thirds sea salt or rock salt mixed with two-thirds water). – Avoid renovation or construction works of any kind. If you need to carry out such activities, select an auspicious date and time, and initiate the first knock using a hammer in a safe area at South.

The 4 Green star will align in the Centre this year. This is a star that is said to be very powerful as it brings great prospects in career, business, self-improvement and academia. It is also the lucky star for lovers. So for those who are seeking romance and passion, the centre of your home is a good area to be in.

If you have children, do spend more time in this area as any education-based pursuits will be blessed
with potential results. You can shift your children’s study area to the centre, or spend more time
teaching them there.

To enhance the positive energy, follow the tips below:
– For studies and self-improvement: display four Chinese calligraphy brushes. Fresh green bamboo in
a vase filled with water is a good enhancer.
– For love and romance: display fresh flowers in water.
– Avoid placing candles in this area.
– Potted fresh green plants are ideal for this area.
