MALAYSIA: KOK LEONG VEE (HARVEE) —WINNER
Kok’s “Bipolarity” collection references the Chinese strategic board game Weiqi by using black and white to depict the theory of Yin and Yang and incorporating elements to resemble a checker board.
INDONESIA: SHEILA AGATHA WIJAYA
Wijaya’s Moonshine collection takes influence from artist Karl Bloosfeldt’s photographs and the High Priestess tarot card.
INDONESIA: PEGGY HARTANTO
“Unseen” depicts the simplified relation between nature and technology that reveals things normally unseen by the naked eye —inspired by Steven Meyers’ floral x-ray photograph.
THAILAND: WIRUWAN NHUYUNG
Inspired by Impressionist art, Nhuyung displays her meticulous cutting skills with “En Garden.”
SINGAPORE: YAHN ADAM
Based on Adam’s personal hospital experience, “My Asylum” expresses his mental state at the time—of feeling fear, paranoia and anxiety —and evokes the imagery of x-rays.
MALAYSIA: SEAN LOH
“A Thousand Kisses Deep” draws its theme from Giacomo Puccini’s legendary opera, Madame Butterfly, mixing them with elements from Ron Van Dongen’s floral photography.
THAILAND: JATUPONG METULA
“The Whispering” came about when Metula was visiting the Nan province in Thailand.Amazed by the local weaving patterns, he mixes them with modern design, interpreting Thai textiles in an innovative way
SINGAPORE: TERESA LIM
Taking inspiration from the iconic pin-up girls of the ’40s, “Lenina Gone Wild” explores female identity in a fun way.
