Dzojchen And Elohim Sizzle Up The SFW Runway

Twin stars

It was an important night for Elohim’s Sabrina Goh and Dzojchen’s Chelsea Scott-Blackhall. As new inductees into Fashion Futures 2015, a ‘strategic alliance’ that allows them access to the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s resources, all eyes were on them to deliver. And they did.

ELOHIM BY SABRINA GOH

A sense of rigour and strength was present in the structured sweatshirts and pleated skirts produced by Goh. Fashioned from what seemed like neoprene or bonded jersey, a heavy fold imbued a strap dress with strict and dark undertones. Sombre shades of concrete made way for splashes of red on an abstract print inspired by China’s famous Danxia landscape. Google it–the naturally-occurring colours on the rock formation will take your breath away. Admittedly, Goh’s interpretation of Nature’s wonders felt underwhelming.

DZOJCHEN

At Dzojchen, Blackhall stuck to what she does best: Exploring dichotomies. It was a case of masculine-feminine for the designer, who struck a fine balance by juxtaposing the softness in silk blouses and louche button dresses with the hardness of tough-as-nails biker jackets.
