Thai-American Thakoon Panichgul started his fashion career as a writer at Harper’s BAZAAR before realising that he was more interested in crafting stories with actual clothes rather than words.
The switch has served him well. Thakoon’s latest collection from his eponymous brand, which he presented last night to a packed crowd at the Tent@Orchard, displayed his well-trained eye for mixing up lush textures such as shearling, bouclé and velvety tapestry with crisp cotton shirting. He even threw in some retro vibes for good measure, evident in the shades of dusty orange and chocolate that coloured wooly vests and diaphanous dresses.
Thakoon will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of his brand this year. Here’s to more in the decades to come.
