BAZAAR Spotlight: Meet K-Pop Superstar, Seungri From Big Bang
We caught up with Big Bang's Seungri while he was in Singapore for Braun Büffel's SS19 collection launch
It's safe to say that the combination of Korean pop star, Seungri and long-standing German accessories brand, Braun Büffel made everyone go "Wow! Fantastic, Baby!". Pun intended. In our next instalment of the BAZAAR Spotlight series, we look to one fifth of the global K-pop sensation, Big Bang, Seungri. The international star was here last week as a special for Braun Büffel's Spring/Summer 2019 collection launch at their store in Marina Bay Sands. The 131-year-old German brand is going in a brand new direction with Creative Director, Fabio Panzeri. The theme for the collection was RETRO FUTURE VISION, emphasized with bright colours and modern designs for a fresh, youthful vibe. Hence, Seungri, the magnae (youngest member) of Big Bang, with his vivacious character was the perfect fit to initiate this new move for the brand. He certainly brought in a major crowd all around the store and VIPs (Big Bang fans) waited in anticipation for his arrival. Seeing as it was his birthday on 12 December, the Braun Büffel team surprised him with a cake while VIPs sang him a birthday song in Korean, no less! He then graciously returned the gesture by singing for the crowd, much to everyone's delight.
Seungri is a man of many talents. Not only is he an accomplished performer, he is also multi-lingual, an actor and now a business owner of several brands that span from F&B to a music academy. Being a jack of all trades is the norm for this 28-year-old, who worked hard to get to the top. Besides, his activities in Big Bang, he also had a solo debut and has done a couple of solo tours, attaining mega success especially in Japan under his stage name, 'VI' (short for Victory). Jovial and candid, Seungri had lots of surprises up his sleeve as he sat down with BAZAAR for a quick chat when he was in town.
From breaking into a Christmas song to revealing a surprise solo tour where Singapore is likely to be one of the stops, we had a lively conversation about his life, fashion and what's next for the artist. Watch the video above for his views on style and updates on his music career!
