Here's What Went Down At Benjamin Kheng's Secret Pop-up Gig

Get in on all the action that took place at Benjamin Kheng's pop-up gig on Orchard Road

Update, 11/2: Pulling off one of the most memorable gigs this festive period, Benjamin Kheng rocked up Singapore's busiest shopping strip and literally stopped traffic with his powerful vocals and smooth tunes. The crowd slowly gathered around the slick performer (who was a little under the weather, we hear) and he managed to get even the most taciturn of them crooning along to his upbeat songs. The highlights: Kheng invited three lucky fans to join him on stage to sing with him (one insisted on singing the same song he performed earlier, by the way, but being a gentleman, he complied); his awesome mash-up of Chinese and Hokkien songs (practiced many times, his manager told us); and the rousing toast to good health (with Coke, of course) at the end of his gig. Was it a great start to the New Year? We certainly thought so.

Original post, 30/1: Not heading to Laneway on Saturday because you're all over that festival thing? Here's an original proposition for you: Benjamin Kheng, the local singer-songwriter and 1/4 of The Sam Willows, is having a secret pop-up gig in the heart of Orchard Road, in conjunction with Coca-Cola. Exciting stuff, right?

It's scheduled to start at 3pm, outside Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, along Singapore's busiest shopping district—and yes, as the man has confirmed it himself, he will be busking.

As in, playing right on the streets. Literally.

Watch the full video above to hear the news from the horse's mouth (don't miss out on his hilarious Chinese new Year greetings too at the end!) and hustle on down this Saturday, 30 January, to catch him perform live.
