There’s so much we could say about Eric Nam. Singer, actor, emcee, podcast host, and quite the comedian. But above all, human – and an extremely empathetic and passionate one at that. Ebullient and eager to talk to us, even on an early morning after flying in from Thailand, Nam approaches each of our questions with as much thought and vigour as he puts into planning his concerts. When asked about one of his latest ventures, the mental health-focused app Mindset, Nam doesn’t hesitate to open up about his personal life and his own mental health journey. “It’s scary,” he says, “but it’s very real and it’s something that needs to be talked about… Once you start talking about it, you realise it’s just a human condition that anybody and everybody goes through.”

Ahead of his latest concert in Singapore, a stop on the Asia tour in support of his album There And Back Again, BAZAAR sat down with Nam to learn all about his beginnings as a singer, how he got to where he is now, and where he hopes to go from here.
