Seoul Fashion Week: The Best Looks From Resurrection FW17

The designer's finesse in pulling disparate references together translated into a cohesive and desirable collection that are perfect for Fall 2017

Resurrection's fall/winter 2017 show was the perfect way to kick off our Seoul Fashion Week, and for a good number reasons. Besides the clothes (which we will get to in a bit), half the fun in a fashion show is seeing who is sitting front row — and Resurrection's didn't disappoint. With a whole slew of celebrities, including a member of popular girl group SNSD, it's little wonder that photographers went gaga and snapped incessantly right up till the moment they were ushered off the runway space by security.

And now, as promised, for the clothes. The designer Juyoung Lee mixed and melded a disparate pot of references for Fall 2017. Think: '90s film The Matrix, combined with the dapper tailoring of the English countryside and filtered through the sensibility of the '70s. This translated into a myriad of blacks — black, off-black, patent, shiny black — all layered on top of one another in long, flattering silhouettes.

Tie dye featured heavily in the brand's suiting options, with nary a skinny pant in sight. Instead, the bell bottom pant make a miraculous return to runway, and it was ridiculously desirable. The use of rich brocade and jacquard for jackets also spoke of the designer's ability to pull references from East and West for a cohesive vision that was never jumbled.
