Dior VIII Grand Bal Pièce Unique “Envol”
The house of Dior is synonymous with timeless luxury, elegance and modernity—these ideals have long been identified with the house through the designs and attitude of their haute couture collections and jewellery. Christian Dior himself was a great savant of life’s finest, and this was reflected in his personal life. Drawing on the great designer's love of the fine life, the house is unveiling 15 new 36mm timepieces in 2015, dedicated to the man himself.
Each of the timepieces is one-of-kind, creating a truly magical experience for the modern Dior lady who wants a part of the mesmerising heritage of Dior to carry it on into the future. One special feature of each model is that it features an original face with animated artworks recalling Monsieur Dior’s past as a gallerist and the House of Dior’s appreciation for a modernist approach. Precious materials such as diamonds, gold, mother-of-pearl, feathers and silk, were also used in homage of the haute couture legacy left by the designer. Four days of work were needed to make each dial and create subtle effects of green, blue, red, purple and silver with deep metallic reflections, while the stones are set in a baguette-cut creating a spiral pattern, demanding particularly complex setting techniques. There is nothing subtle about this timepiece—it sparkles, dazzles and hypnotises, transporting you to the fantastical world of Dior.
