There’s no denying the classic allure and easy demeanour of round-faced watches. But for those who are after something a bit more vivacious, and with easy elegance in spades, Harry Winston’s Emerald collection fits the bill to a tee.
Launched originally as a ladies’ only collection (gents would only get theirs some years later with the 33mm version), Harry Winston’s newest timepieces to its stable were designed to be dainty, gem-lined creations that offer a lighter, yet no less sophisticated take on the Harry Winston style. They exude youthfulness while paying respectful homage to the jeweller’s legacy; and promise a sense of play that is steeped in the House’s prestigious heritage. Bearing a distinctive octagonal case shape in tribute to Mr Winston’s favourite gem-cut (he thought it the most flattering and elegant for precious stones), the 18mm diamond-lined debuts were available in 18k white or 18k rose gold with a satin brushed dial and a choice of double twirl satin leather straps or 18k white gold Milanese bracelets.

New colourways, like the powder pink, soft blue and yellow gold editions, have been introduced to the timepiece family since then. But this year sees Harry Winston expanding the collection with what is arguably their most vivacious numbers yet. Available in champagne, violet, turquoise and orange, with matching double twirl satin leather straps to boot, the new Emerald designs up the ante on head-turning style, while promising an easy injection of vibrant hues to any contemporary wardrobe.

The 18k white gold watches feature a mother-of-pearl dial with a whimsical bubbly leitmotif that’s achieved through variously sized mother-of-pearl cabochons and brilliant-cut diamonds (there are 20). To further catch the light with every turn of the wrist are 53 diamonds that line its case and its lugs, as well as the inversely set diamond on its crown. And as is consistent with most of the collection, each timepiece is graced with an emerald shape at 12 o’clock (in the form of the 18k white gold Harry Winston logo or an emerald-cut sapphire) and is equipped with a precision Swiss quartz movement for utmost convenience.

Or if it’s timeless with a twist that you’re looking for, Harry Winston is also offering the watches with gleaming 18k white gold Milanese bracelets for a completely different look. Showcasing 120 diamonds (36 more than the double twirl strap versions), it’s a timepiece that will see you through work days to cocktail nights.
With colours that bring a smile to the face at first glance, and details to garner admiring looks, Harry Winston’s new Emerald 18mm timepieces balance posh and play effortlessly for a timepiece that makes keeping track of the time a visual joy.
