This year marks the 200th birthday of the founder of luxury house Louis Vuitton. To celebrate its bicentenary, Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director for Watches and Jewellery has created Bravery, the latest collection of high jewellery.

For those not familiar with the history of the house, Louis Vuitton (he was born on Aug 4, 1821) left his home in the Jura area when he was barely a teenager to strike it out in Paris. His journey on foot across France inspired him to create trunks for travellers, which eventually set the gold standard for modern luxury.

“I was surprised that a fashion house like Louis Vuitton was created through the sheer courage of one young man,” said Amfitheatrof. “Driven by his curiosity about the world, he embarked on that incredible journey across France. That’s why we have named this collection Bravery. It’s not a word often used in High Jewellery! Yet these notions of determination and adventure are intrinsic to Louis Vuitton, and we wanted to express them through this collection.”

This 90-piece collection is not only stunning but also a remarkable display of the fine artistry of the masters. The rare quality of the gemstones — sapphires, emeralds, rubies and diamonds — took the house on a three-year global search. The result? Over 110 LV Monogram-cut diamonds, Louis Vuitton’s signature diamonds and a sparkling reincarnation of the Monogram flower and other precious gemstones presented in a dazzling array of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings.
