The Duchess was welcomed to The Hague on Tuesday.
With the knowledge that her private tour of the gallery would involve a viewing of Johannes Vermeer’s famous ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring,’ Kate, who is an art history graduate, chose to accessorize her Catherine Walker suit with a pair of pearl earrings borrowed from the Queen, the Telegraph reports.
Kate was shown works by the Dutch masters and paintings from the Queen’s Royal Collection by the museum’s director, Emilie Gordenker, who also thought pearl earrings would be a sensible jewellery choice for the occasion.
