“People’s ideas, people’s stories, people’s experiences, they all give us inspiration,” says Emily Tan, founding designer of Calla Lily Fine Jewellers, a new bespoke jewellery brand that provides bijoux lovers with unique, hand-crafted creations that capture personal stories.
From restyling gemmed heirlooms that have been passed down through the generations, to creating one-of-a-kind pieces that will in turn be bestowed, Calla Lily Fine Jewellers’ designs narrate cherished tales through precious gemstones.
The Singapore brand has also been forging a reputation for modular designs that allow the wearer to mix, match and stack their jewels. Rings can be stacked together for added boldness or to suit an outfit. Simple ear studs metamorphosise into statements with different combinations of detachable halo jackets and wands. The designs exude playfulness and invite interaction, to create new looks for every mood or outfit.
Founded in July 2018, Calla Lily is backed by years of experience and expertise. Tan, a London College of Fashion graduate, is also a graduate gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America. She honed her design acumen in international fashion brands including Jimmy Choo Couture in London and Marni in Milan before turning her eye to Singapore’s bespoke jewellery scene in 2011.
Anita Shewchuk, who has worked alongside Tan for the past three years, brings her training in architecture and interior design to her pieces, which feature bold, sculptured lines. Coupled with Tan’s flair for whimsical elegance, it makes for no shortage of delight and surprise surfacing from their Tiong Bahru studio.
