The VMA red carpet is always full of surprises—as is the show itself. (*NSYNC?) But one thing you can always count on is gorgeous hair and makeup looks from all of your favourite celebrities. This year was no exception, with stars like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez bringing their beauty A game to MTV. Here, our favourite looks of the night, plus some links to shop the looks.

Who needs hair accessories when your dress is literally made of them? We love how Cardi B kept her beauty look simple, with sky-high lashes crafted by celebrity artist Erika La’ Pearl and a classic center part.
Rita Ora brought fashion and flair to the red carpet. We loved her sultry smoky eye and honey-brown waves adorned with rows of miniature bows, à la Sandy Liang.

“Vampire” singer Olivia Rodrigo’s effortless makeup look, created by artist Nina Park for NARS, was the perfect match for her sparkly custom Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown.
VMA winner Karol G’s playful blonde-and-pink ombré hair and flushed cheeks were a total standout. Celebrity stylist Justine Marjan used Great Lengths extensions on the star to craft her unique look.
Demi Lovato’s sculptural makeup look was among our favourites of the night, created by artistJill Powell using Danessa Myricks Beauty. “When the eyes were done, I finalised the complexion with a second sheer layer of concealer under the eyes and down the center of the nose,” Powell says of the star’s red-carpet look.
And speaking of cherub cheeks, singer Sabrina Carpenter gave us major blush inspo with her rosy makeup look. “Sabrina’s dress was the inspiration,” says celebrity artist Carolina Gonzalez. "I decided to go for a dreamy, luminous glow with flushed angelic cheeks and fluffy lashes. She looked like a dreamy angel.”
Selena Gomez stunned in an Oscar De La Renta gown paired with sleek hair and a monochromatic makeup look by artist Hung Vanngo using Rare Beauty.

Even through her bridal-esque veil, we were still mesmerised by Nicki Minaj’s twinkling pink eyeshadow, which matched her all pink ensemble.
