Review of Dolce & Gabbana Alta Sartoria 2020 Show

Over a two-day extravaganza, Dolce&Gabbana presented the highest, hautest take on womenswear and menswear finery at Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance—an age of pure brilliance which emerged out mankind’s darkest moments.

For Alta Sartoria, the offerings were gilded and glamorous. A series of intricately feathered t-shirts opened the show at the Palazzo Vecchio and the louche, luxe dressing gown was a recurring theme—sometimes finished with fur trims and jewels. Tapestry prints abounded and like the women’s show, the collection played with the idea of Italian archetypes, from the prince to the peasant, the dandy to the knight. The abundance of robes and pyjamas made this collection a fantasy wardrobe rooted in our current stay-home realities.
