“Tailoring is about a long-term relationship rather than a quick date,” says Dylan Chong, Director of bespoke tailoring house Dylan & Son—which he built up after taking over and rebranding his father’s tailoring business in 2010. Walking the talk, the spiffy 40-year-old infuses his métier with plenty of personal touches that foster enduring affiliations—personally attending every consultation and cutting every pair of trousers, and having the same cutter serve each client. In true craftsman fashion, he wishes for Dylan & Son to remain a small-scale business when it hits its 20th anniversary, “with a tight-knit team of tailors who put forth their best efforts for our clients”.

“If someone were to play me in a movie, [I would like it to] be Tony Leung. I’ve always felt he projects a similar aura—a little reserved and private; not easily understood. Maybe a tinge of aloofness, not because he’s arrogant, but because putting his arm around strangers while sharing a drink is really not his thing.”
