Following in the footsteps of Gucci and Celine comes Versace, with the reveal of its first foray into ultra-luxe unisex fragrances.

The heritage Italian fashion house has just dropped Atelier Versace Fragrances, six scents in line with the exceptional craftsmanship that goes into the legendary label's couture creations.

Donatella Versace told WWD: “This is a new milestone for Versace that stems from the idea that every woman and man is different and that, in the same way that they like to get their dress made-to-measure, that’s even more true when it comes to fragrances.”

Each scent celebrates a hero ingredient: Cedrat de DiamanteEclat de RoseJasmin au SoleilFigue BlancheSantal Boise and Vanille Rouge.

"I wanted to create something unique and that’s why one fragrance wasn’t enough," Donatella explains. "So I decided to do a collection of fragrances that felt like they are made-to-measure to one’s taste, exactly like the dresses we create in the Atelier."

The campaign features models together with Versace’s own tailors, evoking the close-knit family atmosphere of the atelier.

Each fragrance comes in the same glass bottle shape referencing the pleated constructions of some Atelier Versace creations. Heavy gold caps are topped with the brand's signature Medusa logo. The overall aesthetic feels very different to Versace's existing fragrances, which are unashamed tributes to feminine and masculine codes.

The price too sets the Atelier Versace Fragrances apart; a 100ml bottle costs a cool £320 (approximately $560). It seems in this age of gender fluidity in fashion and beauty, haute fragrances are the new handbags.
