Paris Fashion Week: 10 Best Looks From Junya Watanabe Spring/Summer 2020
A destructed version of a street couture punk
Junya Watanabe is a master in deconstruction and making the ordinary into the extraordinary with his keen eye for detail, precise craftsmanship and ability to recontextualise wardrobe classics. The basic trench was given the Watanabe touch; new avant-garde silhouettes were paired with fluoro accents. The designer collaborated with Spanish graffiti artist Demsky J and Brazilian artist Bicicleta Sem Freio to create some eye-catching graphic tights and bodysuits that injected pops of colours. Tailoring took centre stage—suit jackets were cut, spliced, removed and fused into an array of street meets couture versions.
