Iris Van Herpen served us a couture collection that is utterly visually arresting. Going beyond fashion, her creations are works of art, sculpture-like in its execution. For her Spring 2019 couture collection, Van Herpen played with the theme of DNA-engineering and human genes merging with animal ones. This cold and scientific theme was approached in her usual ethereal fashion, with 3D net dresses, galactical swirls (akin to a double helix) and colours that bleed into one another, perhaps to represent hybridization.
