Fashion is finally taking steps in recognizing the environmental and ethical costs of producing their clothes. With brands such as Versace, Michael Kors, Giorgio Armani and Gucci going fur free, and H&M’s conscious label which continues to push boundaries using recycled and organic material, the need for environmental consciousness is now more pressing than ever.

Five years after the Rana Plaza disaster, lobby fashion group Fashion Revolution has published a report on the supply chain transparency of the top 150 fashion brands in the world.

This was judged and ranked according to five key areas: policy and commitments, governance, traceability, know show and fix, and spotlight issues, translated into percentages.

And the results?

The top players leading the way with overall transparency were Adidas, Reebok, Puma, H&M, Esprit, and Banana Republic. In the luxury sector, brands such as Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, YSL and Burberry have taken more steps towards increasing transparency.
