Valentine's Day Restaurant Dinner

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to show your appreciation to each other with a mouth-watering meal. Better yet, if it’s at an idyllic and picturesque setting that will put you both in a romantic mood. Sure, V’day menus are usually pretty pricey, but hey, it’s only once a year. And you have to eat anyway, right? From rooftop restaurants to poolside dinners, here are our top picks for that super hot date. You’d get your money’s worth at these spots, trust us. You can thank us later.

An intriguing and artistic meal awaits you at Le Binchotan — its chef-owner Jeremmy Chiam has specially come up with a menu just for Valentine’s Day. Dishes have been created and plated with much detail and reflection, with an aim to pay tribute to both the sweet and the bitter aspects of a relationship. Every dish has been inspired by specific moments and is a re-creation of his memories of what love has been, can be, and still is. Expect the bold flavours that this French-Japanese spot is known for.

Courses include “U n I” — a cheeky salute that plays on the name of the main ingredient, uni. It’s a shooter glass of cauliflower mousse layered with dashi jelly and topped with generous lobes of fresh sweet uni, a flavourful dish inspired by chawanmushi. Other dishes include a comforting chicken consommé and a “TLC” main course of juicy grilled Toriyama wagyu striploin paired with Leeks and a sweet onion Compote. Dessert is a “BitterSweet” affair, with a smooth rich dark chocolate crémeux served with a scoop of tangy yoghurt sorbet, and garnished with a sweet and smoky puree made from binchotan-grilled beetroots.

Price: $229++ per couple. Available from Feb 13 to 15, from 6pm onwards. There will be two seatings on Feb 14 (6pm to 8pm and 8.30pm until closing).

Le Binchotan is at #01-04, 115 Amoy Street, Singapore 069935 (entrance via Gemmill Lane). Call 6224 1045 or email reservations@lebinchotan.sg for reservations.

Offering a hearty six-course meal, Lawry’s lavish Valentine’s Day set dinner will have you sinking blissfully into dreamland after dinner. Seafood lovers will love the first three courses of amuse bouche, soup and appetiser, which are a concoction of seafood-themed dishes that include crab, lobster, salmon and scallops. For main course you have a choice between seafood again or beef. The seafood platter is a delightful Baked Cajun Lobster Tail accompanied by Miso Salmon steak and Carabinero Prawn served with Teriyaki Nameko Mushroom sauce.

A substantial 180g of roasted USDA prime rib is accompanied by creamy mashed potato, Yorkshire pudding and a choice of creamed corn, creamed spinach or buttered peas.
