Popularly known for their tiaras fit for any royal, French jeweller and watchmaker Chaumet has been a pioneering force to be reckoned with since its inception dating back to 1780. They were the official jeweller to Empress Josephine and they were also the first Parisian jeweller to retail at the prestigious Place Vendôme. The savoir-faire of their high jewellery creations have been passed on through generations spanning 235 years—that's a lot of history. Where most heritage brands are slow to embrace the digital age, Chaumet has welcome it with open arms, albeit in their own Parisian way.

Every collection of theirs—from Jardin to Liens and Josephine—tell a beautiful story, the intricacies of which are also represented in the exquisite craftsmanship found in their extraordinary pieces. And their newly launched Les Ciels de Chaumet tells not one or two but four stories of the sky (Les Caprices du Ciel), the burning sun (Les Couleurs du Ciel), the essence of high jewellery (Les Fulgurances du Ciel) and of exotic birds that dot the blue skies (Les Habitants du Ciel). Elements of the milky way (read: moon and stars) underline the collection with thematic signatures.

From diamonds, a girl's best friend to coloured stones such as sapphires, tanzanites and amethysts, the Les Ciels de Chaumet collection is where old meets new in beautiful harmony. It truly doesn't get more authentically Chaumet than this—with the exception of their Empress Josephine inspired pieces, of course.

To celebrate this monumental collection and to bridge the digital gap with their customers, Chaumet launched a mobile application aptly named Chaumet In The Sky. Which takes the fast becoming haute couture trend of see-now-buy-now to whole other level. Developed in collaboration with world-renowned astrophysicist and researcher Dr Patrick Michel, the App allows its users to navigate the primary stars and planets at night, matching them to pieces from the collection. With a simple click, one can not only get more information on the pieces, but also make an appointment to see it (and buy it) in person.

The Chaumet In The Sky mobile App is available on iTunes.
