Adele Performed Her Hit Songs And Couldn't Stop Laughing On SNL
She teased her next album, and broke into song despite not being the musical guest
Adele made her debut hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, and fans were delighted to watch the British singer return to the spotlight.
For her opening monologue, the superstar wore a sleek Brock Collection look. Adele addressed the fact that she wasn't the musical guest on the episode, stating that her album wasn't finished yet, and that she was "too scared to do both." She continued, "I would rather just put on some wigs—and this is all mine by the way—have a glass of wine or six and just see what happens." However, that didn't stop the performer from slipping into song on a couple of occasions.

In a sketch inspired by The Bachelor, Adele competed with a group of women for the affections of Ben K. Whenever the singer felt as though Ben was losing interest in her, she'd break into one of her iconic songs, many of which are famously about heartbreak. It meant that, despite not being the episode's musical guest, Adele could showcase her vocal talents, which excited the audience to no end.
Adele starred opposite Pete Davidson in the sketch "Chad in a Haunted Mansion," in which the singer played the ghost of a murdered woman.

Meanwhile, acting opposite Kate McKinnon, Adele broke character and couldn't stop laughing. However, the sketch, which focused on a group of white women recommending Africa as a tourist destination, has been criticized for fetishizing Black men.
The singer also commented on her appearance and told the audience, "I know I look really, really different since you last saw me but actually, because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me—and this is the half I chose."

In a promotional shoot for her SNL hosting debut, Adele declared her love for New York in an embellished outfit and finished off her look with Cartier jewellery.
