The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have touched down in California.

A source confirms to BAZAAR.com that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have left Vancouver Island—where they have been residing since stepping down as senior members of the royal family—and are now based in the Golden State. People reports that the couple have been staying in a secluded compound in Los Angeles amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis and haven’t ventured out as of late.

Rumors circulated in recent weeks that the couple were eyeing a move to Meghan Markle’s hometown of L.A., though Prince Harry, Meghan, and palace officials never previously confirmed the news.

The relocation news would mean that Meghan, Harry, and their young son Archie would be closer to not only Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, but also the duchess’ close knit circle of friends who have visited the royal couple in Vancouver, according to People.

Meghan and Harry’s move comes proceeds the couple’s official stepping down as senior working royals on March 31. The couple’s transition away from royal life will include no longer retaining an office at Buckingham Palace, no longer utilizing the word “royal” in their independent ventures, and no longer using “his or her royal highness” in their titles.
