Netflix is the gift that keeps on giving that never fails to disappoint. If you’ve been obsessed like us with Netflix’s Korean romantic comedies like Romance Is A Bonus Book and thrillers like Memories of the Alhambra, then you’ll be glad to hear that you’ll be set for the rest of the year. Here are the six new Original titles that Netflix is adding into their K-drama library in 2019.
1. Svaha: The Sixth Finger
This mystery thriller is a tapestry of subplots woven like a puzzle. Paster Park (Lee Jung-jae) is hired to expose a religious cult. Unfolding in parallel, Police Captain Hwang investigates a murder case linked to the mysterious cult, and the religious fanatic Na-han (Park Jung-min) obsesses over a young girl. Director Jang Jae-hyun hooks you with conspiracies, evil spirits, and the most mystical whodunit. Watch it now on Netflix.
2. Chief of Staff
Chief of Staff is a drama series about the world of political aides who usually are out of the spotlight. It portrays aides as the real players in politics, whose desire for power can sometimes be stronger than that of the lawmakers they serve. Jang Tae-jun (Lee Jung-Jae) is the ambitious Chief of Staff to a four-term lawmaker who’s persistent intuition and cool judgement made the lawmaker as powerful as he was. Kang Seon-yeong (Shin Min-ah) is a lawyer-turned-politician serving as the spokesperson for her party who’s the embodiment of female empowerment in a male-dominated field. 3. Designated Survivor: 60 Days
Adapted from the popular American TV series Designated Survivor, this k-drama follows a politician, Park Mu-jin (Ji Jin-hee), who ascends from the position of Minister of Environment to President after an explosion at the national assembly kills everyone in the Cabinet who is ahead of him in presidential succession. Lacking in ambition, personal beliefs, and political sense, Park is a fish out of water. As he sits as acting president for 60 days, Park chases for the ones responsible for the terrorist attack, navigate the antagonists that doubt him, and grow as a national leader. 4. My First First Love S2
The long-anticipated second season of My First First Love will continue to follow how the five main characters grow as young adults. With a cast including Jisoo, Jung Chae-yeon, Jinyoung, Kang Tae-oh, and Choi Ri, the romantic comedy is bound to satisfy. Between career building, love triangles, and navigating between friendship and love, My First First Love is the perfect wholesome series to binge for those warm, feel-good vibes. 5. Love Alarm

This is a story that revolves around an app that alerts people if someone in the vicinity likes them. Whoever said ignorance is bliss was probably right when a group of friends finds themselves caught in between what they desire and what the app says they would want. Kim Jo-jo (Kim So-hyun), a family-trauma-bearing girl with a positive spirit finds new love on the app while privileged Hwang Sun-oh (Song Kang) and his friend (Jung Ga-ram) both develop feelings for Jo-jo. Love Alarm is based on a popular Korean webtoon of the same name by Chon Kye-young that is still growing in population after seven seasons. Mark your calendars and watch Love Alarm when it comes out on August 22.
6. Vagabond
This action-packed espionage drama series will have you clicking the next-episode button at lightning speed. Starring Lee Seung-gi and Suzy Bae, Vagabond follows a stuntman who gets involved in a tragic airplane crash and ends up discovering a national corruption scandal in the process. Meanwhile, the oldest daughter of a deceased marine decides to work for the National Intelligence Service as a secret ops agent to support her mom and younger siblings, even though an ordinary life is what she craves. You may be happily surprised to know that this original Netflix production is packed with top-notch cinematography, impressive VFX, and even has scenes set in places like Portugal and Morocco. Watch it on Netflix when it comes out in September.
