Chiara Ferragni Raises Over €3 Million In The Fight Against The Coronavirus Crisis

Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni and her husband Fedez have raised over €3 million to help deal with the coronavirus epidemic in Italy via a Go Fund Me campaign.

The couple also made a personal donation of €100,000 to help fund new hospital beds in the intensive care area of Milan’s San Raffaele hospital.

“We hope that this initiative will raise awareness among people in Italy and abroad of the current coronavirus crisis, which is affecting all of us,” they said in a statement, reports WWD.

The project was developed with Professor Alberto Zangrillio, who is head of the Milanese hospital’s cardiovascular and general intensive care department.

“This is a concrete contribution, which we tremendously appreciate and that we hope can be an example for many,” Zangrillo notes.

“We continue our battle, which we will win, against this extraordinary emergency, where intensive care is the only chance to cure the patients most affected.”

Italian influencer Ferragni has used her platform to warn her Instagram followers to take all precautions necessary to fight the crisis, as well as stressing that there is the serious issue of an inadequate number of beds available in intensive care within hospitals.

"In this really difficult phase for our country we can also do something to support our communities," the Go Fund Me page reads. "Doctors and scientists are doing a very important job and we would like to help support them.

"For this reason, we thought of helping the intensive care unit at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. At this moment the equipment necessary to triple the intensive and subintensive care beds are:

- Fans

- Non invasive ventilation devices

- Hemodynamic monitoring

- Monitor

Even a small donation can make a difference."

Giorgio Armani has also donated €1.25 million to the Luigi Sacco and San Raffaele hospitals and the Istituto dei Tumori in Milan, as well as the Istituto Lazzaro Spallanzani in Rome.
