Here's Why Ariana Grande Is Not At The 2022 Grammys

The star is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2020 album Positions.

Ariana Grande is skipping music's biggest night this year.

The pop star announced this afternoon that she isn't attending the 64th annual Grammys, where she's nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2020 album Positions, and Best Pop Solo Performance for her lead single of the same name. She broke the news on Instagram, posting a message of gratitude for her nominations alongside several behind-the-scenes clips of herself and her team working on her sixth studio album.

"Some positions memories to celebrate grammy day :)," she wrote. "Reflecting on an incredible process with so many creatives that i love and respect so deeply. i love this album so. it’s an honor to be recognized today alongside so many brilliant musicians and human beings that i love. to have each other, to have the gifts that we have, to share and feel heard.. is not something to take for granted, we’ve already won. :)."

"Have a beautiful time, i am celebrating all of you there today!" she added.

The two-time Grammy winner made her last appearance at the 2020 ceremony, where she gave a standout performance of her songs "Imagine," "7 Rings," and "Thank U Next." She also shut down the red carpet with in a voluminous gray Giambattista Valli gown, paired with a pair of Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings valued at $2.5 million.

This week, the "God is a Woman" singer embraced her philanthropic side. She announced Thursday, on Transgender Day of Visibility, that she will match all funds raised up to $1.5 million for her fundraiser in conjunction with Pledge, "to support organizations providing direct services and advocating for the rights of trans youth."

"Right now there are hundreds of disgraceful bills pending in state legislature that target trans youth and aim to curb their rights. this will provide critical funds to organizations advocating for the rights of trans youth," she wrote, adding that the funds will be equally split between 18 groups, including Black Trans Advocacy Coalition, Equality Florida, Tennessee Equality Project, Transanta, and more.
