Everything Announced At The Apple Event, Plus What You Need To Know

Productivity on-the-go has never been more important to our society than in recent years. Work-from-home is now part of our daily lives and demand for speed, efficiency and convenience have also increased exponentially. Consumers of today desire aesthetically-pleasing tech products that’ll also double up as entertainment devices—all at affordable price points. Apple has been quietly listening to your wish list, and at its event at Apple Park last night, the global tech giant announced a slew of products that effortlessly checks all boxes. From an updated iPhone SE to the all new, powerful Mac Studio and an upgraded iPad Air, we break down everything you need to know ahead.

Perhaps the most impressive iPhone SE yet, the latest iteration of the most affordable iPhone now comes with (almost) all the bells and whistles that the iPhone 13 Pro Max has. It still comes in a compact and durable design, but now features an impressive 4.7-inch display and the Home button with Touch ID. Another notable upgrade is the inclusion of the A15 Bionic chip that turbo charges the camera capabilities, unlocking Smart HDR 4, Photographic Styles, and Deep Fusion. Nearly every experience from photo editing to power-intensive operations like gaming and augmented reality is now better than its predecessors.

That’s not all. The newest iPhone SE now comes with 5G technology, which allows users to take advantage of the latest generation of wireless technology — faster uploads and downloads, lower latency, higher quality FaceTime call and more.

The new iPhone SE will be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB models in midnight, starlight and (PRODUCT)RED starting at S$699. Pre-orders are open from Friday, 11 March 2022 at 9am, and will be available from Friday, 18 March 2022 for collection and in-store purchase.

For the past year, iPhone lovers have delighted in the impressive features of the iPhone 13 lineup. This year, the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro are rendered in the new Alpine Green shade, while the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in a new Green shade. Both phones will still feature the incredibly durable Ceramic Shield™ front cover, A15 Bionic chip, advanced 5G experience, cutting-edge camera systems for photo and video as well as better battery life.
iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will be available in the new Alpine Green in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, starting at S$1,649 and S$1,799 respectively. iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in the new green in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options, starting at S$1,299 and S$1,149 respectively. Pre-orders start on Friday, 11 March 2022 and will be available from Friday, 18 March 2022 for collection and in-store purchase.

In 2010, the world was forever changed with the introduction of the first generation iPad. Several iterations and updates later, it’s hard to imagine a world without it. The brand new iPad Air now comes furnished with the ultra powerful M1 chip, delivering a colossal leap in performance and battery life. From editing multiple streams of 4K video to playing graphics intensive games and redesigning a room in 3D Apps, the M1 chips enable users to do even more than with the iPad Air.
In a time when virtual calls are our new reality—for work, dates or catching up with friends and family—having a great front camera on your devices is an important factor to consider. You’ll be glad to know that the new iPad Air now comes with an ultra wide 12MP front camera with Centre Stage. The improved camera system allows users to capture sharp photos, 4K videos, scan documents and enjoy thrilling AR experiences.

There’s more! With the addition of ultra-fast 5G, users can be connected to work, family and friends virtually anywhere, without worrying about internet latency. The USB-C port is also now twice as fast as compared to previous generations. What this means is, you get faster data transfer and the ability to connect to an external display with a higher refresh rate. Apple also introduced new accessories to pair with the latest iPad Air to help take your productivity to the next level.
The new iPad Air—in 64GB and 256GB configurations—comes in space grey, starlight, pink, purple, and blue finishes. Wi-Fi models start at S$879, while Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at S$1,099. Pre-orders start on Friday, 11 March 2022 and will be available from Friday, 18 March 2022 for collection and in-store purchase.

If you are impressed with the M1 chip before, wait till you experience the power of the all-new M1 Ultra chip, featuring UltraFusion™, Apple’s proprietary method that interconnects the die of two M1 Max chips to create a system on a chip (SoC). According to Apple, the new M1 Ultra delivers astonishing computing power to the new Mac Studio (we’ll come to that later), while maintaining industry-leading performance per watt. Content creators who are used to the speed and efficiency of the M1 chips are in for a treat. The M1 Ultra can be configured with up to 128GB of high-bandwidth and low-latency unified memory that can be accessed by the 20-core CPU, 64-core GPU and 32-core Neural Engine. In other words, it’s a dream come true for developers compiling code, and artists working in massive 3D environments. Remember what we said about a content creator’s dream come true? Well, you can now transcode video to ProRes up to 5.6x faster than with a 28-core Mac Pro with Afterburner.

Apple always knocks it out of the park with its displays, and with the newly-minted Mac Studio and Studio Display, an entirely new Mac desktop and display, they’ve unlocked a whole new immersive experience for consumers. Designed to give users everything they need to build the studio of their dreams, the Mac Studio is powered by M1 Max and the new M1 Ultra.
With Mac Studio, you’re able to render massive 3D environments, and playback 18 streams of ProRes videos. The Studio Display is made to complement the Mac Studio, but will also pair beautifully with any Mac. It boasts an expansive 27-inch, 5K Retina display, a 12MP ultra wide camera with Centre Stage, and a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system with spatial. If you’ve been wanting to redesign your work studio or have been looking for the ideal computing system to upgrade to, the Mac Studio and Studio Display won’t disappoint.
The new Mac Studio and Studio Display are available for orders from Monday, 14 March on apple.com/sg/store and in the Apple Store app. Mac Studio starts at S$2,899 and S$2,609 for education. Studio Display is S$2,299, and S$2,159 for education.
