Britney Spears And The Backstreet Boys Release New Song "Matches," And Suddenly It's 1999 Again

Britney Spears is continuing to surprise fans with new music, but this time around, she's enlisted the help of some fellow early-aughts musicians: the Backstreet Boys.

Spears took to social media late last night to announce their new moody dance track, titled "Matches," and thank fans for their enduring support of her ninth studio album, Glory, which is still going strong nearly four years after its original release.

"'Matches' 🔥 featuring my friends @BackstreetBoys is out now !!!! I'm so excited to hear what you think about our song together 🙊 !!!!" wrote Spears on Instagram, alongside the deluxe album's cover art. "You can also listen to Glory Deluxe everywhere now … including 'Swimming in the Stars' and the 'Mood Ring' remixes !!!! The love you guys have shown this album this year has been stupid amazing 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 …. like I can't even believe it !!! I hope it brings you joy. GOD BLESS YOU ALL 💋💋💋 !!!!!

Spears has been releasing B-sides and formerly unreleased tracks that were considered for her Glory album over the past year to hold fans over until her next studio album—which could still be years away. Due to Spears's ongoing conservatorship battle with her father, Jamie Spears, the singer has expressed via her lawyers that she has no plans to work or perform again until her father is no longer in control of her career, finances, and life.

"My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father," said Samuel Ingham, Britney's attorney, just last month. "She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career.
