Burberry’s New Future Archive Collection Features Reworked Classic Outerwear

The first fashion house to launch the trench coat, Burberry certainly knows a thing or two about outerwear. As the world steps into 2021 with renewed hope and vigour, creative director Riccardo Tisci digs deep into Burberry’s archive and launches the Future Archive limited-edition capsule collection.

Inspired by the brand’s rich heritage, this capsule offering’s mainstay is outerwear — from diamond-quilted coats to bomber and field jackets.

The ware on display are reimagined with details that look to the future. Think: diamond-quilted parka remastered with a trench-inspired back panel in cotton gabardine, or diamond-quilted bomber jackets spliced with a cotton-gabardine back panel and finished with logo appliqué in black and dark carbon blue. The result is a sophisticated contrast of classicism with a modern, elevated touch.

Besides outerwear, Tisci has also updated the runway bowling bag in a compact size, finished in lavish smooth tan leather and wrapped with a diamond-quilted (a common recurring theme, as you can probably tell by now) corduroy panel and polished chain strap.

Even accessories such as sneakers and bucket hats have been given the crisscross motif treatment.

For this new launch, Tisci tapped photographer Alessio Bolzoni to lens the campaign with models Jourdan Dunn and Adrian Chabada

The collection will be available in a selection of Burberry stores, burberry.com and exclusively via online retailer Mytheresa.
