Thirst Trap Thursday: Prince Mateen

He is a royal treat for the eyes

Drop everything you’re doing: Prince Charming is real, and he lives in Brunei. 27 year-old Prince Abdul Mateen is the fourth son of Brunei’s sultan and prime minister, and he has an impossibly perfect life. Prince Mateen (@tmski) boasts upwards of 1 million followers on Instagram who, like us, can’t help double tapping every picture of him riding a horse, travelling to exotic beaches, or smouldering for the camera in his military uniforms. Oh, and did I mention a healthy smattering of shirtless pics from said beach vacations?

His impressive physique and chiselled good looks only show one facet of this multi-talented hunk. Besides being a qualified helicopter pilot and a captain in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Prince Mateen has a master’s degree in International Studies and Diplomacy, and a major soft spot for animals. Swoon! Unspoken rules of attraction dictate that being an animal-lover makes any man significantly more attractive. He reportedly owns a pet leopard, and is known to love all the animals that roam Brunei’s royal grounds.

While Prince Mateen is accustomed to attention having grown up in the public eye, his fame sky-rocketed after his GQ interview in 2014, where he opened up about how important his family is to him. "I mean, I have my friends, but you can’t go away from family, they are blood and we are very close," he said to GQ, "And their love and support has been a very positive influence in my life." How sweet is that?
